ACTIONS
Litro de Luz Brasil has been carrying out lighting actions in communities across Brazil since 2014. We work together with residents to assemble and install solar solutions. Our goal is to provide safe and sustainable lighting, empowering communities in the process. In this way, we contribute to improving the quality of life and safety in the areas served.

In another collaboration with EDP, Litro de Luz arrived in the Barra de São Miguel community in Guarulhos (SP) to install 30 solar streetlights. The initiative, supported by Instituto Sonhar Alto—an organization accelerated by Gerando Falcões and actively engaged in the region—was divided into two phases due to planned sanitation works in the area. The first phase took place on March 22, 2025, resulting in the installation of nine solar streetlights in the community. Litro de Luz volunteers, EDP employees, and Sonhar Alto collaborators actively participated, and four residents were trained as local ambassadors.

In its final initiative of 2024, Litro de Luz brought light to the Jardim Porto Velho community, located in Grajaú. With a history of struggle and resilience, the Favela do Inferninho in Fortaleza (CE) took another important step toward improving the quality of life for its residents. In November 2024, the community was illuminated with the installation of 30 solar streetlights across various streets and alleys, along with two lanterns for local organizations. This initiative was carried out in partnership with Copa Energia, which mobilized its team from São Paulo and collaborators from the Fortaleza Operations Center. The support of Instituto Pensando Bem, a partner of Gerando Falcões, was also essential in facilitating the connection between Litro de Luz and the community, as well as actively participating throughout the process.

In a connection initiated in 2023, Litro de Luz was introduced to the Jardim Lapenna community through the Tide Setubal Foundation, which carries out social development activities at Galpão ZL. The contact was resumed in 2024, leading to a partnership with the José Luiz Egydio Setubal Foundation, which supports Sabará Hospital. The hospital's volunteer department invited Litro de Luz to participate in the "Fantastic Journey" project, during which 40 streetlights were installed in Jardim Lapenna, along with various other activities such as the revitalization of squares and playgrounds, carried out over the weekend of September 14 and 15.
For this project, eight ambassadors were selected, who participated in the initiative alongside Litro volunteers and Sabará Hospital staff.

One of Litro de Luz's largest and most challenging initiatives to date took place between May and June 2024 in the Midwest region of Brazil. In partnership with the Audi Environmental Foundation and Audi do Brasil, the project reached 20 Indigenous communities in the Lower Xingu, bringing 30 streetlights and 145 lanterns over six days of activities. A group of 24 people—including volunteers, partners, and journalists—traveled from various parts of the country to the city of Sinop, in Mato Grosso, before continuing by land and river to reach the communities. The main bases for the teams and activities were the villages of Sobradinho, Jawary, and Aiporé. It was a demanding initiative, deeply immersive, fostering strong connections with the Kayabi people, where the need for lighting was profoundly felt by all volunteers and partners involved.

In another partnership with BTG, Litro de Luz carried out another streetlight installation initiative in the Anchieta Occupation, located in Grajaú, in the far south of São Paulo's capital. Considering the large size of the community, which received 41 streetlights in 2023 during the first partnership with BTG, a new action was undertaken in May 2024 to install 37 more streetlights and train four additional ambassadors. And it’s impossible to talk about the Anchieta Occupation without mentioning these ambassadors... Leia, Borges, José Benedito, and Firmo are here to stay and bring even more light!
